In the same way, professions of faith are not enough to excuse the failure of the powerful among us to act with justice toward those who are most in need.
In the parable of the judgment of the nations (Matthew 25), all of those being judged recognized Jesus as Lord. The difference was not between those who confessed or worshiped rightly and those who did not, but between those who reached out to those most in need and those who did not.
