Love, Marriage, and Marc Chagall

Liebende in Vence

Our daughter, Katherine, is getting married and the wedding is just around the corner!!

Katherine met her fiance', Collin, not long after coming home from Madagascar.  They met at work in New Orleans where Katherine was impressed by his neatly highlighted and stapled expenses that were turned in to her each week.  Apparently the other guys turned in a hodgepodged mess of receipts that stood in stark contrast to Collin's neat stack.  Katherine actually met Collin's receipts before she met him, but I guess the sum of his personality measured up because the rest, as they say, is history.

It is fun to share in new love.  Katherine and Collin have been a joy to us this last year and a half as they have related their adventures and antics - stranded in the rain on paddle boards and canoes, stalked by escaped prisoners in the deep Mississippi woods, and training Ody.  We have also been blessed with the skills of a talented cook who boils delicious crawfish, sautes delectable brussel sprouts, and can save a sauce that his future mother-in-law has ruined.

When I think of the joys of love and loved ones, I think of the artist Marc Chagall.

 He loved love!!!!

He was inspired by his deep love for his wife, Bella, to create paintings with love as their theme.

In our life there is a single color,
 as on an artist's palette,
which provides the meaning of life and art.
It is the color of love.
