Festival of Flowers (Conclusion)

It's our last day at the Festival of Flowers and there is still lots to see!!

Let's get started...

At the opposite end of the tent from the bay house, you will find one of the best loved venues of the show, Seeds of Wisdom.  In this presentation, beloved books by southern authors are brought to life with floral design.

Each book is represented with such attention to detail, as well as beautiful flowers.  It's hard to leave this area, but right behind it is the container garden venue with a display of wonderfully decorated bird baths!

One of our favorite seminars was A Midlife Bloom by Margot Shaw  the editor of Flower magazine.  She told her life story and how it all led to the desire to start this magazine. Her story was very inspiring.

But our MOST favorite seminar was Flowers For The Southern Soirée presented by floral designer, Benny Campbell. Benny's presentation about floral arranging for parties was fast paced and informative, and Benny himself was fun and funny!!  Here are some of his arrangements...

So it has been another amazing festival, a feast for the eyes!

The festival offers The Gardener's Galleria filled with everything gardening; tools, plants, pots, etc.  They are known for having the most wonderful assortment of ferns.  There are also stunning native azaleas in yellows, oranges, and pinks. I spent a lot of time at the daylily booth.

Before we go, let me share one of my favorite ideas from the festival; it was just so clever.  If you want that "picket fence" look in your garden but don't want to actually dig holes and set posts, check out this idea...

Just prop a roll of pickets ($15 at Lowes)  against your house. The look you want, without any work!!
